About The Band

The sound of Fiddlers Sons will stay with you like red Island clay under your fingernails. Since being a Star Trak Finalist in 1998, the band has released three albums and kept busy performing across the Island.

They have appeared twice on CBC’s Madly Off in All Directions, hosted two summer long shows at Summerside College of Piping and Celtic performing acts, were the house band for the “Close to the Ground” Concert Series, were part of the Charlottetown Festival and have been one of Prince Edward Island’s most popular acts.

Fiddlers Sons combination of traditional Prince Edward Island music with contemporary Celtic and Country sound has earned them “Group of the Year” title at 2002 and 2003 Prince Edward Island Music Awards.

John

JOHN WEBSTER plays guitar and is the principle songwriter for the group. His insight and ability to weave words and melody is the heart of the group.

 

 

Eddy

EDDY QUINN provides lead vocals and is also a songwriter for the group. Eddy was voted 2003 “Male Artist of the Year” by the PEI Music Association. and is the producer and host of the “Close to the Ground” concert series.

 

 

Maria

MARIA McDOUGALL provides strong vocals and plays fiddle, flute and whistle for the group. Maria is already an accomplished performer at age 19 and has completed her second year studying music at the University of Prince Edward Island.

 

 

Garth

GARTH MATTHEWS plays bass and sings harmony for the group, has been involved in the music industry since childhood. Over the years has backed up many Canadian music greats including Ron Hynes and Michelle Wright.

Garth manages Fiddlers' Sons and looks after their booking arrangements.

 

The Bands third and most recent recording, “Eagles Fly”, was recorded by Gordon Belsher at Guernsey Cove Parlor Productions. It contains twelve original P.E.I. songs, ten of which were penned by Quinn and Webster and two lively instrumentals. Their music blends the traditional sounds of Prince Edward Island with contemporary Celtic and Country influences.
